Reading Questions

1.  If tactical media is supposed to be spontaneous and unpredictable, should there be a significant amount of planning and research put into the work?

2.  Does tactical media have to promote some sort of message or can it exist just as a piece of work?

Recreation

                                                                            Original

I picked Fox News mainly because I dislike those big news stations and Fox seemed like an easy target.
I tried to make my recreation sort of onion-ish in that I just make fun of and make up a bunch of stuff rather than comment on something that I believe in or anything like that.  I started to run out of good ideas towards the end, but overall I think it's pretty funny.

Video Project

I picked this video mainly because it looked pretty simple but fun to do.  Getting the camera angle was the hardest part because the only way to get it was to tape my camera to the ceiling and hope it was right.  Most everything went smoothly except I ended up leaning over the table too much so some of what is happening is obscured by my head.  Other than that, I think the video and audio synced well together and the original was more or less recreated decently.

Reading Questions

1.  Is there a limit to what can be considered video art?  Filming yourself being shot or repeating a four word title for twenty minutes seems to lean more towards lunacy than art.

2.  Is it a problem that someone can film something from their everyday lives and call it art, rather than put time and effort into a single piece like a painter or sculpture artist?
